Pair Telecom Cables DataTransit Unsheilded Twisted (UTP)

The twisted pair cable is a common type of telephone cable, consisting of a pair of copper wires twisted around each other, usually color-coded. These cables typically have a diameter ranging from 0.4 to 0.8 mm. The number of twisted pairs can vary in each cable, with more pairs generally resulting in better performance by reducing the risk of cross talk and external noise interference. However, twisted pair cables have drawbacks such as high attenuation and low bandwidth compared to other telephone cables. There are two main types of twisted pair cables:

a. Unshielded twisted pair (UTP):

These cables do not rely on a physical shield to block interference. They are commonly used in both business and residential settings. UTPs come in various categories with different bandwidth capacities, such as CAT1 with 1 Mbps and CAT2 with up to 2 Mbps.

b. Shielded twisted pair (STP):

STP cables feature a foil jacket that shields against external interference. They are utilized in larger-scale applications and environments where protection against environmental elements is essential, such as in big enterprises and high-end applications.
